As indoor pieces, all are delivered under the protective varnish, mandatory at Cortenys whenever Corten crosses the threshold. The Orphée Corten steel dining table and the Eurydice chair
Orphée carries a marble top, black with white veining or white crossed with grey veins, on two wide bands of Corten steel folded into an inclined loop, like two open hands. The top overhangs generously and the base stays set back: legs and chairs find their place with complete freedom. Three lengths are offered, from 2000 to 2800 mm, to gather eight to ten guests around a slab of stone. This Corten steel dining table does not impose itself on a room: it anchors it. Around it, Eurydice draws a flat blade of steel that rises from the floor, sweeps up in one stroke behind the seat and carries the backrest, with no rear legs. Upholstered in black or white, in three widths, it composes a matching or contrasting table setting.

Dorian crowns a square Corten steel plinth with a black marble top veined with white, with a fine overhang; its recessed base casts a shadow beneath the table, and the volume seems to float. It comes in three square formats, from 800 to 1200 mm, all 350 mm high. Silas sets two thick beams of solid wood, with the grain left visible, on two open Corten steel frames: the table reads at a glance, like a timber roof frame, in three lengths from 1400 to 1800 mm. Marble answers the patina with coolness, wood with warmth: two harmonies for two living rooms, and two ways of bringing a Corten coffee table into the heart of the home.

The Hestia armchair: softness on a Corten steel base
Hestia wraps a thick seat cushion in a backrest and full armrests, upholstered in ecru bouclé, and sets it on a low Corten steel base with rounded corners. The mass of the base anchors the armchair; the whiteness of the upholstery lightens it. It comes in three sizes. Alone by a window, in a pair around a Dorian or Silas coffee table, or in a series in a reception lounge, it bears the name of the goddess of the hearth, and shares her warmth.
Corten steel indoors: signature patina and mandatory varnish
On every Corten steel table and seat, each base, plinth and frame first receives the Cortenys signature patina in the workshop, between earth, amber and deep rust, then the protective varnish, which fixes it: the patina marks neither floor, nor rug, nor fabric. At Cortenys, this rule admits no exception for indoor use. Day to day, a soft, slightly damp cloth is all that is needed; avoid abrasive products. Can Corten steel furniture be used indoors?
Yes, on one condition: varnish. At Cortenys, every piece intended for indoor use receives the mandatory protective varnish, over the signature patina applied in the workshop. It fixes the patina and prevents it from marking a floor, a wall or a fabric. Orphée, Eurydice, Dorian, Silas and Hestia are all delivered this way.
Can these Corten steel tables and chairs go in the garden?
They are designed for the interior: marble, solid wood, padded upholstery and bouclé need shelter. For the garden and the terrace, the House offers other Corten steel pieces built to live outdoors, such as its fire tables.
Which Corten steel coffee table should you choose?
Dorian, square, pairs Corten steel with veined black marble, at 800, 1000 or 1200 mm per side: a centrepiece for a classic or mineral living room. Silas, rectangular, sets two beams of solid wood on steel frames, from 1400 to 1800 mm long: a warmer presence, in front of a large sofa. Both stand 350 mm high.
How many guests can sit at the Orphée table?
Depending on the length chosen, 2000, 2400 or 2800 mm, Orphée seats eight to ten guests. Its recessed base, formed of two loops of Corten steel, leaves legs and chairs free along the entire length of the top.
What colours does the Eurydice chair come in?
The padded seat and backrest come in black or white, on a patinated and varnished Corten steel frame. Eurydice is offered in three widths, to compose a matching or contrasting setting around Orphée.
How do you care for a varnished Corten steel table?
A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough for varnished Corten steel. Avoid abrasive products and scouring pads, which would damage the varnish. On marble, wipe up liquids quickly, especially acidic ones; on the solid wood of Silas, a dry cloth is all it needs day to day.
Does varnished Corten steel furniture keep its patina?
Yes. The protective varnish fixes the Cortenys signature patina exactly as it was applied in the workshop: its shades of earth, amber and rust stay those of the first day, with no transfer onto their surroundings.
