Limentis, a monument mailbox in two materials
Limentis is our Corten steel mailbox: a column of 35 × 35 × 120 cm (about 14 × 14 × 47 inches) weighing around 30 kg (about 66 lb), designed as a small monument at the entrance, one that catches the eye from the street. The front is a panel of 2 mm (about 0.08-inch) Corten steel finished with the Cortenys signature patina, applied in our workshop, while the frame behind it is anthracite powder-coated aluminum. Inside, the column holds mail as well as small packages. Warm patina against a dark frame gives the classic monument mailbox a cleaner, more architectural line. Engraving your name and house number
Personalization is included: your name and house number are engraved on the Corten steel panel when you order. On the Limentis product page, fill in the Name and Number fields and check the engraving preview before adding the mailbox to your cart. Double-check the spelling and the number exactly as you want them to read from the curb. Each engraved Corten mailbox is then made to order, its signature patina brought to maturity in our workshop.
Getting ready to install
Limentis arrives ready to install; Cortenys does not provide on-site installation. Before delivery, choose a spot your mail carrier can reach easily, clear of the driveway and the swing of any gate, and ask your local post office about any placement or mailbox requirements. Then have a professional confirm the base and anchoring for a 120 cm (about 47-inch) column of around 30 kg (about 66 lb), taking your soil and paving into account. Keep the foot clear of standing water so the steel can dry between showers. FAQ
Does Limentis take packages as well as mail?
Yes, within the limits of its size. Behind the Corten steel front, the column is designed to shelter mail and small packages. Its outside dimensions are 35 × 35 × 120 cm (about 14 × 14 × 47 inches), so bulkier deliveries will still need another drop-off spot.
How does a Corten steel mailbox handle winter and road salt?
Frost does no harm to the patina, and melting snow that later dries off is just another wet-and-dry cycle. Road salt is another matter: de-icing salts are chlorides, which keep the patina from stabilizing. Hose off any splashes with fresh water at the first thaw, and keep slush from piling up against the base.
Is Limentis a good fit for an oceanfront home?
Not on the oceanfront itself: salt spray keeps the Corten patina from stabilizing. Can Corten steel stain paving?
Runoff can carry patina residue. Protect pale paving and check whether the model offers an optional protective varnish, which greatly reduces runoff without ruling it out.
How should I prepare for delivery?
Check the terms for your address, access routes and the handling equipment needed for your chosen piece.
Is Corten steel painted?
Cortenys keeps the natural patina of Corten steel. An optional protective clear varnish is available on selected pieces; even varnished, Corten steel can still leave run-off and stain floors and terraces, so we recommend protecting pale surfaces.
