Choosing a Corten steel water feature
Moving water, three ways
Alban sets a central jet bubbling inside a Corten steel cube; offered in twenty sizes, it runs from a compact cube to large linear fountains with several jets. Elio, an overflow cylinder offered in ten sizes from 500 to 1,500 mm across, lets the water rise to the rim and slide in a veil down its sides. Nereida, a two-tier cascade of 2,200 x 1,300 mm (about 87 x 51 inches), steps the water down from an upper basin to a lower one. All three come with a submersible pump and LED lighting, so your garden fountain glows after dark. Installing a Corten garden fountain
Choose the spot from the views you have from the house or the patio, then prepare a firm, level base suited to the weight of the piece once filled: Nereida alone weighs 233 kg (about 514 lb) before any water goes in. A fountain with a pump and LEDs needs an outdoor power supply, so plan the connection and keep access to the pump for maintenance. Patina, pools and the coast
Every Corten water feature arrives already dressed in the Cortenys signature patina, applied in our workshop. Look after it like a pond: clear leaves and debris and top up the water in hot weather. Near a pool, keep chlorinated water from splashing the steel and protect light-colored coping from runoff. Close to the ocean, Nereida and Elio also exist in powder-coated aluminum.
FAQ
Fountain, water wall or basin: what is the difference?
A fountain moves the water as a jet or a cascade; a water wall lets it slide down a vertical blade; a basin, with no pump, holds a calm reflecting surface.
Do I need a power supply?
Yes, for Alban, Elio and Nereida, which come with a pump and LED lighting. Plan the outdoor connection before installation and keep the pump accessible.
Is a Corten water feature suitable near the ocean?
Salt spray keeps the patina from stabilizing. On the coast, we recommend our powder-coated aluminum pieces, including the Nereida cascade and the Elio fountain.

We deliver standard pieces, including Cortenys Editions, in 6 to 12 weeks after order confirmation. For bespoke pieces, we allow 8 to 13 weeks, with the schedule stated in the quotation.

Does a Corten steel fountain use a closed-loop system?
Yes, the water circulates in a loop. In Elio and Alban, it rises, flows over the piece and falls back into a concealed reservoir, where the submersible pump sets it moving again; Nereida is supplied with its own closed-loop circuit.
Which sizes are available?
Each product page lists the available dimensions and options. Bespoke sizes require an assessment.
Can Corten steel stain paving?
Runoff can carry patina residue. Protect pale paving and check whether the model offers an optional protective varnish, which greatly reduces runoff without ruling it out.
How should I prepare for delivery?
Check the terms for your address, access routes and the handling equipment needed for your chosen piece.
Is Corten steel painted?
Cortenys keeps the natural patina of Corten steel. An optional protective clear varnish is available on selected pieces; even varnished, Corten steel can still leave run-off and stain floors and terraces, so we recommend protecting pale surfaces.
