Care
Our Corten steel pieces receive the Cortenys signature patina in the workshop, before delivery: they never reach you bare, left to weather at home. Indoors, a protective varnish is essential; even varnished, the steel can still mark a light or porous floor, so we recommend protecting it. For everything else, follow the care recommendations for your piece and its finish.

The character of Corten steel. From day one.
The Cortenys signature patina is applied in the workshop before delivery, then the Corten steel parts receive a protective varnish. The varnish enhances and stabilizes the patina and strongly reduces rust transfer, but does not rule it out: even varnished, Corten steel can still release runoff and stain floors and terraces, especially light or porous ones. We recommend protecting the floor before installation: small feet or spacers, or a drip tray, under pieces that stand on the floor, protection for the floor or table below a wall or pendant light, no direct contact with light surfaces, and wiping away any runoff promptly. Follow the varnish care advice to keep it at its best.

Corten steel dining table
Stone, carried as if by two open hands.
Orphée is a dining table in Corten steel and marble, the centerpiece of the Cortenys Creations for the dining room. A rectangular marble top, black run through with white veins or white crossed by gray veins, rests on two broad supports: two bands of steel folded into an inclined loop, holding the stone like two open hands. The top overhangs generously and the supports stay set back, leaving ample room for knees and chairs alike.
01 / Orphée
For the supports, Cortenys chose Corten steel, made to order and finished in the workshop in its signature patina, whose warm tones, from earth to deep rust, reveal themselves beneath the coolness of the marble. Each loop thus develops reflections of its own. Folding so broad a band of Corten steel, then patinating it until it answers the stone, calls for a level of rigor usually found only in fine art metalwork.
02 / Orphée
Two top colors and three lengths are available. A black top in a dark dining room, a white top in a bright one: beneath a Lyra pendant, surrounded by Eurydice chairs, Orphée gathers your guests around a stone. A piece of luxury furniture in Corten steel, made for long dinners, and to last well beyond them.
