Célestin Corten Water WallA Corten steel water wall turns a wall into a stage: a blade of water pours down in a smooth curtain, murmuring by day and glowing by night. Cortenys designs two. Leander is a vertical panel down which a wide blade of water glides before reaching its basin; Célestin, a wall-mounted water blade, is fixed high on an existing wall and sends water streaming down the whole façade. A submersible pump and LED lighting of the blade come as standard. Supplied without a receiving basin, they let the water fall into the swimming pool, reflecting pool or Narcissus water basin of your choice. Designed in France, crafted in Europe by a partner manufacturer and made to order, they arrive dressed in the Cortenys signature patina, applied in the workshop. Where one expected a water feature, a piece of architecture rises.

Leander or Célestin: two ways to let water flow
Leander creates the wall itself: a vertical panel of 2 mm Corten steel, down which water descends in a continuous veil. It comes in ten sizes, from 1000 to 3000 mm wide and from 1200 to 1600 mm high, to stand at the end of a pool, facing a terrace or on the axis of a path. Célestin dresses a wall that already exists: fixed at height, its blade releases a curtain of water across its full width, from 1000 to 3000 mm, in a height of 600 or 1000 mm. Garden wall, pool wall or patio wall: the surface becomes a suspended cascade. Choose Leander to compose a water scene, Célestin to transform a façade into a Corten water feature.

Fixed at height, the Célestin wall-mounted water blade lets a curtain of water fall into the swimming pool. At dusk, its LED takes over.
The receiving basin: swimming pool, reflecting pool or Narcissus
Our water walls are supplied without a basin: the choice of what receives the water is yours. An existing swimming pool, a built reflecting pool or the Narcissus water basin, a rectangular reflecting pool in 3 mm Corten steel offered in twelve sizes up to 4000 mm, can all receive the fall. Plan a basin wider than the blade and deep enough for the submersible pump, and position it so that the water falls exactly where it should. Together, a water wall and a Narcissus basin form an ensemble of Corten steel sharing a single patina.
A patio tuned to the sound of water
On a rendered wall, the Corten steel panel of Célestin answers the shadows of the foliage, and the water reaches the pool without splashing the terrace.
The light and sound of water
By day, the veil of water animates the surface with shifting reflections, and beneath the water the Corten takes on an even deeper intensity. At nightfall, the LED lighting built into the blade illuminates the curtain, which stands out against the darkness of the garden like a line of light. The sound is more present than that of a jet: a continuous murmur that enlivens a terrace and softens the noise around it. Place the water wall where it can be heard without raising your voice, a few metres from the seating. On the panel, the Cortenys signature patina, applied in the workshop, can be fixed with a protective varnish, offered as an option, which makes upkeep simpler.
Installing and maintaining a Corten steel water wall
Plan a suitable outdoor power supply for the pump and the LED lighting, a stable base and, for Célestin, a wall able to take the fixing: the House will advise you before you order. Keep access to the pump. Remove leaves and debris regularly, watch the water level so the pump never runs dry, and follow the model’s instructions for winterising before the first frosts. For a particular width, height or architectural integration, Cortenys develops bespoke Corten steel water walls, made in 3 to 10 weeks; every piece is guaranteed for two years.

What is a Corten steel water wall?
It is a vertical fountain: a blade of water pours in a smooth curtain down a panel or from a wall, then falls into a basin. In Corten steel, the piece carries a warm patina that answers the reflections of the water. At Cortenys, Leander, a vertical panel, and Célestin, a wall-mounted water blade fixed at height, both include a pump and LED lighting.
Is the basin supplied with the water wall?
No. Leander and Célestin are supplied without a receiving basin, so that you are free to choose what receives the water: an existing swimming pool, a reflecting pool, or a Corten steel water basin such as Narcissus, offered in twelve sizes up to 4000 mm.
Does a water wall need a water supply and electricity?
The submersible pump recirculates the water from the basin: simply fill it, then top up the level as it evaporates. A suitable outdoor power supply, on the other hand, is required for the pump and the LED lighting. Have it installed in line with current regulations.
What is the difference between Leander and Célestin?
Leander is a vertical panel that forms the water wall itself, 1200 to 1600 mm high. Célestin is a wall-mounted water blade fixed at height on an existing wall, 600 or 1000 mm high. Both come in widths from 1000 to 3000 mm and include a pump and LED lighting.
What sound does a Corten steel water wall make?
A continuous murmur, more present than that of a central jet: the curtain of water enlivens a terrace and softens surrounding noise. The intensity depends on the height of the fall and on the basin. Choose the atmosphere before the form: water is there to be seen, but first of all to be heard.
Can a Corten steel water wall stay outdoors in winter?
The Corten steel structure, yes: it fears neither rain nor cold. The water and the pump, however, are vulnerable to frost. Before the first frosts, follow the model’s recommendations for draining and winterising, then bring the water wall back into service in spring.
How do you maintain a Corten steel water wall?
Remove leaves and debris regularly, watch the water level so the pump never runs dry, and clean the pump according to the instructions. The Cortenys signature patina needs no paint; to fix its colour and simplify upkeep, the protective varnish is offered as an option.
Are Cortenys water walls available in aluminium?
Yes. Leander and Célestin also exist in powder-coated aluminium, in a RAL colour, for a more graphic reading of the same design. Only the Corten steel versions carry the Cortenys signature patina, applied in the workshop.
