A column at the gate
A letterbox is seen from the street long before the front door, which is why Limentis, our Corten letterbox, is drawn as a column rather than a box. It stands 120 cm tall on a 35 × 35 cm base, weighs about 30 kg and takes small parcels as well as letters. Two materials share the work: a front of 2 mm Corten steel, patinated in our workshop, and an anthracite frame in powder-coated aluminium that keeps the outline sharp. Engraved with your name and number
The engraving is part of the piece. The name and house number you enter on the Limentis page are engraved into the Corten front as the column is made to order, so the letterbox at your gate also tells visitors and couriers that they have found the right address. Behind the engraved front, the aluminium frame stays plain and dark, leaving the lettering and the patina to carry the design.
Footing, drainage and sea air
Choose a spot away from the driveway, where the gate opens freely and the post can be collected without stepping into the planting, and make sure no puddle forms at the base, so the steel can dry between wettings. Its footing and fixing are yours to arrange: have them validated by a professional, since the column arrives ready to put in place and Cortenys does no installation work on site. On a plot facing the sea, choose Stèle instead, a column of the same format in powder-coated aluminium from our aluminium outdoor furniture: the salt carried on the spray would keep the patina of a Corten front from settling.
FAQ
Can the engraving be checked before ordering?
Type the name and the number into the two fields of the Limentis product page, and the engraving preview displays them on the panel. Read it letter by letter, accents and digits included, before you confirm: the column is made to order, and the lettering is engraved into the steel for good.
Does the patina vary from one letterbox to another?
Yes, slightly. Our workshop applies and checks the Cortenys signature patina on each Corten front, and every one takes its own nuances of rust, sienna and amber, so no two columns look exactly alike. Only the frame, in anthracite powder-coated aluminium, is identical from one Limentis to the next.
Is there a lighter alternative to Limentis?
Yes. Stèle takes up the 35 × 35 × 120 cm format in 2 mm aluminium with an anthracite grey powder coat, RAL 7016, and weighs around 12 kg against about 30 kg for Limentis. It has no patina but keeps a stable colour, takes letters and small parcels, and is engraved with your name and number too.

Weathering steel develops a warm patina that changes with exposure. Runoff may mark pale surfaces. A protective clear varnish is optional on selected models; even varnished, Corten steel can still leave rust run-off and stain pale floors and terraces.

Which sizes are available?
Each product page lists the available dimensions and options. Bespoke sizes require an assessment.
Can Corten steel stain paving?
Runoff can carry patina residue. Protect pale paving and check whether the model offers an optional protective varnish, which greatly reduces runoff without ruling it out.
How should I prepare for delivery?
Check the terms for your address, access routes and the handling equipment needed for your chosen piece.
Is Corten steel painted?
Cortenys keeps the natural patina of Corten steel. An optional protective clear varnish is available on selected pieces; even varnished, Corten steel can still leave run-off and stain floors and terraces, so we recommend protecting pale surfaces.
