Cortenys offers four readings of the garden fireplace. Prometheus, a pyramid with a natural draught, and Atlas, a cylindrical column open at mid-height, burn wood and keep logs in reserve at their base. Column, pyramid, wall or portico: four designs for a vertical fire
Atlas is a single cylinder of Corten steel: the hearth opens at mid-height, a low niche holds the wood, and the piece can be admired from every side; it comes in three heights, from 1300 to 1800 mm. Prometheus soars as a pyramid: its tapering form creates a natural draught that lifts the flame and carries smoke away from your guests, and storage at its base keeps the evening’s logs to hand; it comes in heights of 1150 and 1400 mm. Ignis is fixed to the wall, with no footprint at all on the ground, in three lengths from 900 to 1500 mm: stone or render becomes the backdrop to the fire. Pharos, finally, raises two uprights and a crossbar around a sheltered flame; the landscape shows through the frame, in three heights from 1200 to 1800 mm.

Ignis is fixed to the wall and runs a line of bioethanol flame along its full length: the terrace stays clear, and the wall becomes the setting.
Wood-burning fireplace or bioethanol fireplace
Atlas and Prometheus are wood-burning outdoor fireplaces: a tall flame, embers, radiant heat, and that scent nothing can replace. Ignis and Pharos run on bioethanol: no smoke, no ash, a more contained flame that is simple to light and to put out, invaluable on a town terrace, a roof terrace or in a hospitality venue. Fuel is not supplied with the piece. Consult each model’s product page for its instructions for use, then choose between the life of a wood fire and the simplicity of bioethanol.

A column, a pyramid, a frame: designs reduced to a single line leave no room for approximation. The House crafts its Corten steel outdoor fireplaces as pieces of architecture, to order, with a partner manufacturer in Europe, then dresses them in the workshop in the Cortenys signature patina. Its shades of earth, amber and deep rust echo the glow of the hearth, and each fireplace keeps reflections that belong to it alone. Unlit, it remains a sculpture in the middle of the garden. No logo or plate disturbs the design, and every piece is guaranteed for two years.
Where to place a Corten steel outdoor fireplace
Choose stable, level, non-combustible ground, away from hedges, awnings, shade sails and anything flammable, and respect the safety clearances specified for the model. A vertical fireplace deserves to be seen from afar: at the end of a vista, beside a swimming pool, at the entrance to a terrace. For Ignis, check with the House that the wall is suitable for fixing. On a pale slab, a bed of gravel at the foot hides the first rust run-off. For a particular height, width or position, Cortenys develops bespoke Corten steel outdoor fireplaces, made in 3 to 10 weeks.

Wood-burning or bioethanol fireplace: which should you choose?
For a real fire, with embers and crackle: Atlas or Prometheus, burning wood, with their built-in log store. For a flame without smoke or ash, simple to light: Ignis, the wall-mounted fireplace, or Pharos, the vertical fireplace with a sheltered flame, both running on bioethanol. Fuel is not supplied; each model’s product page specifies its use.
How tall should an outdoor fireplace be?
It depends on the scale of the setting and the distance from which the fireplace will be seen. Prometheus stands 1150 or 1400 mm tall; Atlas comes in 1300, 1500 and 1800 mm; Pharos in 1200, 1500 and 1800 mm. Ignis, fixed to the wall, is chosen by length, from 900 to 1500 mm, according to the width of the wall.
Can a Corten steel fireplace be installed against a wall?
Ignis is designed for exactly that: it is fixed to the wall and lights it from bottom to top. For freestanding models, leave the safety clearance specified on the product page between the fireplace and any combustible element, the façade included. If you have any doubt about a wall or an awning, the House will advise you before you order.
Does a Corten steel outdoor fireplace heat the terrace?
A wood fire radiates pleasant warmth around the hearth, and Prometheus wraps nearby seats in its heat. An outdoor fireplace nevertheless remains first and foremost a fire for atmosphere: it extends late-season evenings without claiming to heat an entire terrace.
How do you look after a Corten steel outdoor fireplace?
Let the hearth cool completely. With wood, empty the ashes regularly, as they hold moisture against the metal, and keep the log store dry. For bioethanol fireplaces, follow the instructions on the product page. The Cortenys signature patina needs no paint and gains depth with every fire; avoid wire brushes and abrasive products.
Can a Cortenys fireplace stay outside all year round?
Yes. Corten steel was developed to live outdoors: its stabilised patina protects the core of the metal from rain, frost and sun. Delivered already applied, the Cortenys signature patina deepens with the seasons. Out of season, simply keep rainwater from standing in the hearth or in the log niche. Every piece is guaranteed for two years.
