A Corten log store within reach of the fire
Beside the hearth
For a wood fire, place a Corten log store in a sheltered position within reach of the hearth, keeping seasoned logs to hand while echoing the patina of the fire piece. Beside an outdoor fireplace, a column keeps the footprint small: 500 or 600 mm wide, it rises from 800 to 2000 mm along the wall. Next to a fire table, the smallest Corten firewood rack, 600 mm wide and high, sits on the terrace itself, while a compartment model turns the wall behind the seating into a grid of logs, up to nine compartments in a 2200 mm square. Out in the garden, the 3 mm Corten frame raised on legs can stand alone as an island, holding the stack clear of the soil.
Square, rectangular or round: the window modules
Fortito, Gemitus and Circulu are window modules for a log store, each cut from 2 mm Corten steel. Fortito is a 350 mm square frame: set it alone, stack several or build them into a low wall, where they hold logs or open a view onto the garden. Gemitus, 780 or 1480 mm long, keeps the stack behind a long rectangular opening, against a short wall or along a façade. Circulu, 390 mm across, works like a porthole, set in front of a stack or built into a larger Corten log holder.
Footing, finish and an aluminium twin
The columns and tiered racks have a closed back, so they stand best against a wall, while the frame on legs can hold its own in the open. Keep the base clear of standing water, which would stop the steel from drying. Near pale stone, stand the store on a bed of gravel or spacers; the protective varnish, available on every model in the family, greatly reduces marks without ruling them out. For colour rather than patina, our aluminium log stores take up the columns, tiers, compartments, frame and cabinet in eight powder-coated colours.
FAQ
Are the Corten window modules windows for a building?
No. Fortito, Gemitus and Circulu are window modules for log stores: a square, rectangular or round frame of Corten steel that holds firewood behind its opening, or simply frames a view in the garden or within a low wall. They are not designed as building windows or window frames, and they arrive with the signature patina, like every log store.
Does a bioethanol fire need a log store?
No. Nyx, Pyrros, Ignis and Pharos burn bioethanol, so there are no logs to keep. A log store belongs beside the wood-burning pieces: the Vesta fire bowl, the Hélios, Héphaïstos, Etna and Taranis fire tables, the outdoor fireplaces Prométhée and Atlas, and the Vulcain BBQ, which cooks over a wood fire.
Can a Corten steel log store stay decorative between fires?
Yes, and three of them are drawn with that in mind. Meum, a heart of 2 mm Corten steel, holds logs or simply livens up a wall; Fortito works for wood as well as decoration; and Sylvain, shaped as an open hexagon of 920 × 385 × 800 mm made in a single size, was conceived as much as a sculpture as a store.

Does an open log store protect firewood from rain?
An open front lets air circulate and helps the wood dry, but does not guarantee that the logs stay dry in driving rain. Take the exposure into account: a position against a wall, under a roof overhang or an awning, protects the stack better.
Which sizes are available?
Each product page lists the available dimensions and options. Bespoke sizes require an assessment.
Can Corten steel stain paving?
Runoff can carry patina residue. Protect pale paving and check whether the model offers an optional protective varnish, which greatly reduces runoff without ruling it out.
How should I prepare for delivery?
Check the terms for your address, access routes and the handling equipment needed for your chosen piece.
Is Corten steel painted?
Cortenys keeps the natural patina of Corten steel. An optional protective clear varnish is available on selected pieces; even varnished, Corten steel can still leave run-off and stain floors and terraces, so we recommend protecting pale surfaces.
