Every panel is designed in France, crafted in Europe by a partner manufacturer and made to order, then delivered with the Cortenys signature patina already applied in the workshop. Whether it divides the garden, screens a view or forms the backdrop to a terrace, a Cortenys panel is no longer a fence but a piece to be looked at.

Corten steel wall panels: fourteen winds, fourteen motifs
Each panel carries a motif you recognise at first glance, and that motif guides the choice. Several are cut right through the steel. Éole raises a sun with openwork rays above a broad solid surface. Aquilon is pierced with circles of every size; Notos scatters circles and ovals like drops on a windowpane. Auster brings openwork flowers, foliage and stems into bloom, Zéphyr sets bamboo quivering, and Harmattan interlaces lively lines like tall grass bending in the wind. Euros stands apart: a sheaf of slender stems climbs its full height and, in full sun, its shadow draws a second motif around it. The remaining walls play on a graphic motif: Borée holds the structure of the garden when winter strips it bare, Alizé sets a steady cadence along a terrace, Sirocco carries the warmth of southern summers, Mistral divides the garden like a Provençal cypress hedge, Levant greets you at the gate, Ponant comes alive in the setting sun and Tramontane gives the view a fixed point. An openwork Corten panel forgives nothing: every opening must fall exactly into place for the whole to hold together.
Privacy screen or garden divider: choosing your Corten screen
Start with what the panel has to do. To divide without enclosing, between terrace and garden or around a table laid outdoors, an open motif such as Aquilon or Auster draws a boundary while letting the garden beyond be glimpsed. To screen a view more firmly, look at the density of the motif: the interlace of Harmattan filters the view without blocking it, and Éole keeps a broad solid surface beneath its sun. As a garden divider, Mistral separates the ornamental garden from the kitchen garden or encloses a reading corner. At the entrance, Levant frames the gate and sets the tone; at the end of a path, Tramontane becomes a landmark; facing west, Ponant catches the last light of the day. Think too about the sun: through the openwork, light and shadow redraw the motif hour by hour, and in the low evening light the grain of the patina reveals itself. The signature patina of every Corten steel wall panel
A sheet of Corten steel leaves the mill grey, then takes months of rain to cover itself in a patina that is often uneven. Cortenys spares you that wait. The signature patina is applied in the workshop before delivery, and each Corten steel wall panel arrives already dressed in shades of earth, amber and rust that the seasons will go on to deepen. For the House, ‘raw Corten’ means without varnish, never without patina. On most of our decorative walls, a protective varnish is offered as an option: it stabilises the patina for those who prefer a constant tone. Designed in France, crafted in Europe and made to order in 2 to 5 weeks, every panel belongs to the Classics collection and is covered by the two-year Cortenys guarantee. None carries a logo, a plate or a signature: its mark lies in the precision of the motif and the depth of the patina. Where others sell a sheet of steel to stand against a hedge, the House delivers a piece of landscape architecture.

How much does a Corten steel screen cost?
The price of a Corten steel screen depends on its dimensions, the intricacy of its motif, its finish and its options, such as the protective varnish. A flat sheet of weathering steel sold by the metre and a finished decorative panel, designed, made to order and patinated in the workshop, bear no comparison. The price of each model is shown on its product page or given on request; a bespoke panel or a series is quoted individually.
Can a Corten steel screen be used indoors?
Our decorative walls are designed for outdoor installation: garden, terrace, courtyard or partition between two outdoor spaces. For an indoor project, speak to our team first: at Cortenys, the protective varnish is mandatory for any piece installed indoors, as it fixes the signature patina and limits colour transfer.
How do you install a Corten steel privacy screen?
On a stable base, suited to the weight of the panel and to its exposure to wind: even an openwork panel catches the wind. The fixing method depends on the model and on what it is fixed to, so check the model’s product page or ask our team before installation. Leave air to circulate around the panel and never let water stand at its base: Corten steel needs to dry out between showers.
Does a Corten steel screen rust and stain paving?
Corten steel is designed to rust on the surface: its stabilised patina protects the core of the metal, without paint. During the first months, rain can carry rust run-off onto pale stone or porous concrete. Because the Cortenys signature patina is applied before delivery, this run-off is much reduced, and a bed of gravel at the foot of the panel does the rest. On pale paving, choose the protective varnish, offered on most of our decorative walls: it fixes the patina and prevents marks.
How do you maintain a Corten steel screen?
Almost nothing is needed. The Cortenys signature patina calls for no paint: rain and sun simply deepen it. Clear leaves and soil from the foot of the panel so that damp never stays against the steel, rinse with clean water if needed, and avoid wire brushes and abrasive, chlorinated or rust-removing products, which would alter the patina. If you prefer a constant tone, the protective varnish, offered on most models, stabilises it.
What size of Corten steel wall panel should you choose?
Start with what the panel has to frame or screen. Its height follows the view to be composed, seated on a terrace or standing on a path; its width follows the boundary or the space to be divided. Leave room to step back, since a motif is read from a distance. The exact dimensions of each decorative wall are given on its product page or on request. For a longer run, several panels can follow one another and set a rhythm along the boundary; for a precise height or width, a bespoke format can be considered.
Does Cortenys make bespoke Corten screens?
Yes. For a boundary to dress, a view to close or a series of panels for a landscaping project, send us your measurements, a few photographs of the site and the intended use: the House studies each request and sends you a quote. A bespoke screen is made in 3 to 10 weeks, in the same Corten steel and with the same signature patina as our collection models, which take 2 to 5 weeks. Architects and landscape designers will find here a partner who speaks of proportion, light and material as much as dimensions.
Is a Corten steel screen suitable by the sea?
With care. Sea spray deposits chlorides that stop the patina from stabilising and keep corrosion active: right on the shoreline, Corten steel is not at its best. Further back from the sea, a varnished panel rinsed regularly with fresh water can be considered. Every site is different, so the House studies yours with you before you order.
