WHAT IT IS
A transparent protection that respects the material
CORTENYS protective varnish is a clear, colourless protection applied by hand in the workshop, once the signature Corten Patina has reached maturity.
It seals the oxidation and fixes the patina in the exact state you choose: rust, sienna and amber tones stop evolving and remain as they are, season after season.
The House works with one varnish only: the one that respects the material and preserves the natural depth of Corten.

Understanding the varnish option
01Does the varnish change the colour of the patina?
No. It is colourless and does not alter the tones: it deepens them slightly and adds a discreet satin finish, like wet stone that kept its glow.
02Can it be added later?
The varnish is applied in the workshop, on a patina we bring to maturity before sealing. The choice is made when ordering. For an already installed piece, contact the House: each request is reviewed individually.
03Does it hold outdoors, in sun and rain?
Yes. It is formulated for outdoor use: sunlight, rain and frost. It protects the patina without yellowing or flaking.
