Choosing a Corten steel log store
Columns, tiers or compartments
A Corten log store keeps your firewood in order and gives it real architectural presence. Maison Cortenys designs several families. The two- and three-storey columns rise vertically and slip against a wall or beside a door. The tiered log racks and the four-, six- and nine-compartment models spread the stack across an open front, from a small Corten steel log holder to a generous wood store. The frame on legs, in 3 mm Corten steel, lifts the wood off the ground; the cabinet without legs and Sylvain, an open hexagon, sit directly on the ground.
When firewood becomes decoration
Some models are as much about design as storage. Cœur Meum draws a heart-shaped silhouette, for logs or simply as an ornament. The Fortito Square Window, the rectangular Gemitus Window and the round Circulu Window frame the logs like a picture, in the garden or on a terrace. All of these are made in 2 mm Corten steel.
Placement, airflow and patina
Set your Corten steel firewood rack on firm, level ground, not too far from the house so that carrying logs stays easy; a wall or a canopy gives extra shelter. The steel itself needs to dry out: clear away bark and damp debris that would hold water against it. Every piece arrives already dressed in the Cortenys signature patina, applied in our workshop; on pale paving, a bed of gravel or small spacers protect the surface, and the protective varnish, optional on selected models, greatly reduces marks without ruling them out.
FAQ
Column or compartment log store?
A column takes up little floor space and rises along a wall; compartment models hold more across their width and give rhythm to a façade.
Can a Corten log holder go indoors?
Talk to us before ordering: at Cortenys, every piece intended for indoors receives the protective varnish in our workshop, which strongly reduces rust transfer to floors and walls without ruling it out; we still recommend felt pads or a tray.
How much wood will it hold?
The dimensions of each variant are listed on its product page. Compare them with how much you burn and the space you have; for a bespoke size, we will look at your project.

Sizes and placement
Compare the footprint, height and weight listed on each product page. Leave room for use and maintenance. Bespoke dimensions need to be assessed before ordering.

03 / Advice
A natural patina
Weathering steel develops a warm patina that changes with exposure. Runoff may mark pale surfaces. A protective clear varnish is optional on selected models; even varnished, Corten steel can still leave rust run-off and stain pale floors and terraces.

04 / Advice
Care and delivery
Follow the care instructions for the piece and avoid trapped moisture at its base. Check the stated lead time, delivery terms for your country and access to the intended position.

Corten steel log stores: frequently asked questions
Does an open log store protect firewood from rain?
An open front lets air circulate and helps the wood dry, but does not guarantee that the logs stay dry in driving rain. Take the exposure into account: a position against a wall, under a roof overhang or an awning, protects the stack better.
Which sizes are available?
Each product page lists the available dimensions and options. Bespoke sizes require an assessment.
Can Corten steel stain paving?
Runoff can carry patina residue. Protect pale paving and check whether the model offers an optional protective varnish, which greatly reduces runoff without ruling it out.
How should I prepare for delivery?
Check the terms for your address, access routes and the handling equipment needed for your chosen piece.
Is Corten steel painted?
Cortenys keeps the natural patina of Corten steel. An optional protective clear varnish is available on selected pieces; even varnished, Corten steel can still leave run-off and stain floors and terraces, so we recommend protecting pale surfaces.
