Floor lamp, pendants and sconces
Corten steel lighting for your interior
Corten steel brings its warm patina of earth, amber and deep rust inside the house through light. We make five indoor pieces: a floor lamp, two pendant lights and two wall sconces, each offered in three sizes.
Floor lamp, pendants and sconces: every size and US price
Dimensions and weights come from the product pages, with weights given as an indication and inches and pounds rounded. Prices are US prices with the varnish included, since these indoor models are sold only with it; the varnish cuts rust transfer sharply, yet even varnished, a piece can still stain whatever it touches or hangs over, so keep a light-colored surface beneath it protected.

Pendant lights over a dining table or kitchen island
Over a round or square table, Astra, a polyhedron of folded facets, aims its glow down at the tabletop. Hung alone, it marks the center of the table; in a pair or a cluster, it forms a group over a bigger one. Over a long dining table, a kitchen island or a counter, Lyra, a beam 1200 to 1800 mm (47 to 71 in) long hung from two cables, spreads even light along the full length.
Pick a Lyra noticeably shorter than the tabletop so the light lands on the table, not on the chairs. Settle the hanging height before installation (ask us for the length of cable supplied): a common rule of thumb puts the bottom of the fixture 24 to 31 in (60 to 80 cm) above the table, adjusted to the height of the people seated and the sight line from one end of the room to the other.
Indoor lights
Our indoor Corten steel lights
The price on each card is the lowest for that model, in its smallest format. All five pieces ship with our protective varnish, included in the price; it sharply limits rust transfer but cannot exclude it, so a light-colored floor or wall may still pick up rust stains, and the surface beneath should be protected.
Ambient light from a floor lamp and two sconces
Sirius is a slim 80 × 60 mm (3.1 × 2.4 in) bar that stands on the floor on its own, with no other support: its line of light runs the full height and pools on the floor at its base. It fits the corner of a living room, the spot beside a sofa or a stretch of wall where a conventional shaded floor lamp would crowd the room.
Aura is a square frame for the wall whose hidden light outlines a glowing square on the drywall or plaster: a natural fit for an entryway, a hallway or the wall above a sideboard. Eos is a tall, narrow plate cut through by one line of light, 400 to 900 mm (16 to 35 in) high: one over a bed, one in an entry, or several in a row down a hallway.
Looking for a Corten table lamp? We do not make one. Beside a sofa or an armchair, the shortest Sirius, 1200 mm (47 in) tall, gives you low light without an end table; for light over a desk or a dining table, an Astra pendant brings the glow right down to the tabletop.
- Entryway: an Aura above the console table, or two Eos on either side of a mirror.
- Living room: Sirius in the corner, Astra over the coffee table or the dining table.
- Kitchen: Lyra running the length of the island.
- Bedroom: a pair of 400 mm (16 in) Eos on either side of the bed.
Ceiling boxes, wiring and the electrical specs
The pendants and sconces mount to the ceiling or wall and connect to your home's wiring, so have a licensed electrician install them and confirm the ceiling or wall can carry the stated weight (up to about 12 kg, or 26 lb, for an 1800 mm Lyra) and that the connection is up to code. Our product pages do not list the light source, the wattage or the color temperature: ask us for these before ordering if your lighting plan calls for them.
We make every light to order: allow 2 to 5 weeks as an indication, and delivery is free. It reaches you ready for your electrician, as we do no on-site installation. The steps are on our making and delivery page.
Patina indoors and protecting hardwood, stone and drywall
All five models arrive with the signature Cortenys patina, applied in our workshop and then sealed with the protective varnish, included in the price. Indoors, out of the rain, the patina changes far less than it does outside. The varnish greatly reduces rust transfer without ruling it out: even varnished, a Corten piece can still stain light hardwood, stone or drywall, especially if it gets damp. Put felt pads or a thin plate under the base of Sirius, and never clean the Corten or the surfaces around it with lots of water. For cleaning and stain removal, read caring for Corten and removing rust marks; what the coating can and cannot do is set out on our varnish page.
Indoor or outdoor: where each of our lights belongs
For the facade, the front door and the yard, Solan, Nérite and Angle Dièdre are built to go outside: they are compared with Aura and Eos on our Corten steel wall lights page. The flame lanterns and the Luminus LED bollard are gathered in our full range of Corten steel lights. To go with these lights, our indoor tables and seating are on the Corten steel tables and seating page.

Frequently asked questions
Which Corten steel lights are designed for indoor use?
Five models are made for interiors: the Sirius floor lamp, the Astra and Lyra pendants, and the Aura and Eos sconces. All come with the protective varnish, included in the price, which does not fully stop Corten from staining a light-colored floor or wall, so protect the surface beneath the piece.
What is the least expensive indoor Corten light you offer?
The Eos sconce at 120 × 30 × 400 mm (4.7 × 1.2 × 16 in), at $6,490. The smallest Aura is $6,790 and the smallest Astra $7,090, while Lyra starts at $7,390 and Sirius at $7,490.
Is there a Corten steel table lamp in your range?
No, we do not make a table lamp. For light at sofa or armchair level, choose the 1200 mm (47 in) Sirius floor lamp; over a dining table or desk, an Astra or Lyra pendant.
What length of Lyra works over a 6.5-foot dining table?
For a table of about 2 m (79 in), go with Lyra 1200 or 1500 mm (47 or 59 in), shorter than the tabletop, so the light stays on the table. The 1800 mm (71 in) version suits a table of about 2.4 m (8 ft) or longer, or a long kitchen island.
Could the Sirius floor lamp leave marks on hardwood floors?
It can leave a rust stain, even varnished: the varnish greatly reduces rust transfer but does not rule it out, especially if the base gets wet while you clean. Protect the floor under the base with felt pads or a thin plate, and clean around it without soaking the floor.
Can you hang several Astra pendants as a cluster?
Yes, Astra is designed to be combined, as a pair or a cluster over a table. Mixing the three sizes, roughly 350 to 550 mm (14 to 22 in) tall, makes a livelier group than a row of identical pendants.
Who wires a Corten pendant light or sconce?
A licensed electrician: they check the ceiling or wall can take the weight of the piece and make the connection. Ask us for the electrical data of the model before installation if they need it.
A particular project in mind?
A dimension, a finish, a word of advice. The House is by your side, with the care it brings to every one of its pieces.
