Care
Our Corten steel pieces receive the Cortenys signature patina in the workshop, before delivery: they never reach you bare, left to weather at home. Indoors, a protective varnish is essential; even varnished, the steel can still mark a light or porous floor, so we recommend protecting it. For everything else, follow the care recommendations for your piece and its finish.

The character of Corten steel. From day one.
The Cortenys signature patina is applied in the workshop before delivery, then the Corten steel parts receive a protective varnish. The varnish enhances and stabilizes the patina and strongly reduces rust transfer, but does not rule it out: even varnished, Corten steel can still release runoff and stain floors and terraces, especially light or porous ones. We recommend protecting the floor before installation: small feet or spacers, or a drip tray, under pieces that stand on the floor, protection for the floor or table below a wall or pendant light, no direct contact with light surfaces, and wiping away any runoff promptly. Follow the varnish care advice to keep it at its best.

Lyra, a beam of light in Corten steel.
Lyra is an indoor pendant light in Corten steel, designed by Cortenys for tables that stretch out in length. A long, slender rectangular beam descends from the ceiling on two cables; its underside casts a continuous light over the table, kitchen island or counter along their entire length.

A beam of this design demands perfect straightness and unbroken light: it is at this level of detail that a different idea of Corten steel furniture becomes apparent. Made to order, Lyra is delivered in the Cortenys signature patina, applied in the workshop from one end of the beam to the other: nuances of earth, amber and deep rust that give each beam a character of its own. Its horizontal line answers countertops and long tables, and the warmth of Corten softens dark-toned kitchens. Three lengths are available.

Above an island, a counter or a long table, Lyra lights the whole length in a single stroke, and Corten steel takes its place at the table as a refined material.
