Every piece is made to order: allow 6 to 12 weeks from order confirmation to delivery. For bespoke pieces, expect 8 to 13 weeks. The lead time that applies is stated before you confirm your order, in the quotation for bespoke pieces.

Every Corten steel piece receives the Cortenys signature patina in the workshop, before delivery: you do not have to wait for bare steel to weather at home. Outdoors, the patina protects the metal and continues to evolve over time. Indoors, a protective varnish is essential: it greatly reduces rust transfer, but even varnished, Corten steel can still mark a light or porous floor, so we recommend protecting it with felt pads, small feet or a saucer. For everything else, follow the recommendations specific to your piece and its finish.

During the first months, raw Corten steel (patinated, without varnish) can leave slight rust transfer during heavy rain: this is the natural behaviour of the Corten patina. We recommend placing the piece on a draining surface or temporarily protecting light-coloured surfaces. The protective varnish, where offered, strongly reduces this transfer but does not rule it out: even varnished, Corten steel can still release runoff and stain floors and terraces, especially light or porous ones. We recommend protecting the floor before installation: small feet or spacers, or a drip tray, no direct contact with light surfaces, and wiping away any runoff promptly.

La Maison Cortenys adapts the packing to each piece. Some travel in a breathable protection, without plastic film: cardboard, corner protectors and polystyrene. Others receive a reinforced protection: cardboard, a black stretch film that protects the patina and the edges from moisture and scratches, strapping and a pallet. The film is removed on delivery. The certificates travel in a protective pouch. Even varnished, Corten steel can still stain the ground, so we recommend protecting the floor (small feet or spacers, a drip tray).
