Care
Our Corten steel pieces receive the Cortenys signature patina in the workshop, before delivery: they never reach you bare, left to weather at home. Indoors, a protective varnish is essential; even varnished, the steel can still mark a light or porous floor, so we recommend protecting it. For everything else, follow the care recommendations for your piece and its finish.

The Corten steel parts are delivered varnished. The varnish sets the signature patina and clearly limits rust transfer, without ruling it out: we recommend protecting the floor before installation, especially if it is light or porous.

The character of Corten steel. From day one.
The Cortenys signature patina is applied in the workshop before delivery, then the Corten steel parts receive a protective varnish. The varnish enhances and stabilises the patina and strongly reduces rust transfer, but does not rule it out: even varnished, Corten steel can still release runoff and stain floors and terraces, especially light or porous ones. We recommend protecting the floor before installation: small feet or spacers, or a drip tray, under pieces that stand on the floor, protection for the floor or table below a wall or pendant light, no direct contact with light surfaces, and wiping away any runoff promptly. Follow the varnish care advice to keep it at its best.

Sirius is an indoor floor lamp in Corten steel, designed by Cortenys as a stroke of architecture rather than a lamp. A tall, narrow vertical bar rises from the floor with no other support; on its face, a continuous line of light runs the full height and spills out at its base into a pool of brightness.

An object reduced to a single line forgives nothing: the plumb, the continuity of the light and the finish of the patina must be faultless. It is this economy of means that allows Cortenys to take Corten steel to another level. Made to order, Sirius arrives with its Cortenys signature patina, worked in the workshop along the full height of the bar: earth, amber, deep rust, and reflections that belong to it alone. In the corner of a living room, along a panelled wall or beside a sofa, it brings the warmth of Corten where a traditional floor lamp was expected. Three heights are available.
