Care
Our Corten steel pieces receive the Cortenys signature patina in the workshop, before delivery: they never reach you bare, left to weather at home. Indoors, a protective varnish is essential; even varnished, the steel can still mark a light or porous floor, so we recommend protecting it. For everything else, follow the care recommendations for your piece and its finish.

The Corten steel parts are delivered varnished. The varnish sets the signature patina and clearly limits rust transfer, without ruling it out: we recommend protecting the floor before installation, especially if it is light or porous.

Learn more about our packagingThe Cortenys signature patina
The character of Corten steel. From day one.
The Cortenys signature patina is applied in the workshop before delivery, then the Corten steel parts receive a protective varnish. The varnish enhances and stabilises the patina and strongly reduces rust transfer, but does not rule it out: even varnished, Corten steel can still release runoff and stain floors and terraces, especially light or porous ones. We recommend protecting the floor before installation: small feet or spacers, or a drip tray, under pieces that stand on the floor, protection for the floor or table below a wall or pendant light, no direct contact with light surfaces, and wiping away any runoff promptly. Follow the varnish care advice to keep it at its best.

Astra
Corten steel pendant light
Astra, a sky of facets in Corten steel.
Astra is an indoor pendant light in Corten steel, imagined by Cortenys as a stone cut from metal. Folded and assembled steel planes form an irregular polyhedron; hung at the end of a cable, the volume catches daylight on its facets and, in the evening, casts a glow directed towards the table.
01 / Astra
Assembling facets so that none seems superfluous calls for a precision more often associated with fine jewellery than with the ordinary working of Corten steel. Made to order, Astra passes through the workshop, where the Cortenys signature patina spreads its tones of earth, amber and deep rust from facet to facet: each plane of Corten takes on a different shade depending on the angle and the hour, so that no two pieces are quite alike. Three sizes are available, to combine in pairs or in clusters above a table.
02 / Astra
Alone, Astra is a volume; in a cluster, it becomes a sky of facets. A Corten steel lamp made to be looked at as much as to give light: a collector’s piece, suspended.
