Cortenys designs nine: two columns, with two and three tiers, two tiered models, three grids of four, six and nine compartments, a box without legs and a frame on legs. All stay open at the front: air circulates between the logs and the wood dries at its own pace. Robust and untouched by rust, the aluminium receives the Cortenys finish, powder-coated at 30% gloss, with a satin sheen, in eight RAL colours. Aluminium column log stores: firewood stored vertically
The column rises rather than spreads. The two-tier column log store takes up 500 × 380 mm on the ground, in five heights from 800 to 1800 mm, and divides its supply into one to three compartments; at 1500 mm high, it weighs 14.6 kg. The three-tier column stacks three compartments, in five sizes from 1200 to 2000 mm high, one of them 600 mm wide; the 500 × 380 × 1500 mm version weighs 15.7 kg. Along a wall, under a porch or near the front door, the aluminium column marks the space with a vertical accent, and its solid back rests against the façade.

Tiered and compartment aluminium log stores
The two-tier log store arranges the wood on two levels, in six sizes, from 600 × 380 × 600 mm to 1500 × 380 × 1200 mm; the 1000 × 380 × 1000 mm version weighs 17.2 kg. The three-tier model turns the supply into a composition for the façade, in five sizes from 1200 × 1200 to 2400 × 2000 mm. The grids go further: one shelf and one divider create four compartments, in five square sizes from 800 to 1500 mm; two shelves and one divider, six compartments, from 1400 to 2000 mm; two shelves and two dividers, nine compartments, from 1500 to 2200 mm. All keep a depth of 380 mm: a true library of wood, in powder-coated aluminium.

Box and frame on legs: the aluminium log store pared back
The box without legs reduces the log store to a single volume, with no shelf or divider, wide open at the front and resting against the wall on its solid back: ten sizes, from 500 to 2000 mm wide and from 500 to 2000 mm high, 385 mm deep; the 1000 × 1500 mm version weighs 12.7 kg. The frame on legs, in 3 mm aluminium, is as much a picture as a piece of furniture: the cut ends of the logs form a mosaic, and its legs lift it clear of the ground. Seven sizes play on width, from 1000 to 2000 mm, depth, from 350 to 550 mm, and height, from 1000 to 1800 mm; at 1000 × 350 × 1800 mm, it weighs 21.3 kg.

Powder-coated aluminium: eight colours for a log store
Each log store receives the Cortenys finish, a dense RAL powder coating designed for outdoor use, at 30% gloss: a satin skin that catches the light without throwing it back too strongly. Eight colours make up the palette: white RAL 9016, which steps back and leaves the wood in the foreground; anthracite grey RAL 7016, in tune with contemporary window frames; black RAL 9005, the colour shown, a line of ink around the logs; blue RAL 5001, yellow RAL 1005, green RAL 6018, red RAL 3020 and orange RAL 2004, to make the woodpile an accent of colour on the terrace.

Where to place an aluminium log store
Close to where the wood will be burned: against a wall of the house, on the terrace, not far from a fire table or a fire pit, always at a safe distance from the flame. Choose stable, level ground able to bear the weight of the wood, and a well-ventilated spot, sheltered if possible from the prevailing rain: it is the air that dries the logs. For a few logs within reach, a column is enough; for a generous supply, choose a grid with six or nine compartments.

Which aluminium log store should you choose?
It all depends on the role you give it. Against a narrow wall, a column holds a good supply on 500 × 380 mm of ground. For a library of wood, choose a tiered model or a grid with four, six or nine compartments; for a freestanding piece, the box or the frame on legs. Each product page details dimensions and configurations.
Does an aluminium log store rust?
No. Aluminium is by nature impervious to rust, and the Cortenys finish, a dense powder coating designed for outdoor use, dresses it to live outdoors, winter after winter. That is also why the House recommends its aluminium pieces right on the coast.
Does wood dry in an aluminium log store?
Yes, that is the role of the open front: air circulates between the logs and helps them dry, at their own pace. On the frame on legs, the legs also lift the stack clear of the ground. For even drying, place the log store in a well-ventilated spot, sheltered if possible from the prevailing rain.
How much wood can an aluminium log store hold?
That depends on the model, its dimensions and the length of your logs. The external dimensions shown on each product page are not a capacity in cubic metres of stacked wood: compare the depth instead, from 350 to 550 mm depending on the model, with the length of your logs, then the available height. Which colours are available for an aluminium log store?
Eight RAL colours, all at 30% gloss: white 9016, anthracite grey 7016, black 9005, blue 5001, yellow 1005, green 6018, red 3020 and orange 2004. Black turns each compartment into a frame around the wood; the bold shades, from honey yellow to orange, enliven the façade long before the first fire.
Can an aluminium log store stand against a wall?
